About the Festival

 mama Afrika Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit event that celebrates African culture, bridges communities, and educates the public about the contributions of the African diaspora. This year, aligning the 14th annual festival with African Diaspora Heritage Month, we aim to highlight North Carolina’s diversity and commitment to cultural inclusion.

Project Objectives Aims Priorities

  • Established Moringa farming demonstration with well-equipped environmentally sustainable processing center (i.e. Solar Power Panels, Aquaponic grow-houses, etc.) Starting seeds, processing and developing Moringa products (i.e. leaf powder, seeds and oil).
  • Provide training to farmers on Moringa cultivation, processing and consumption.
  • Help rural farmers establish their own Moringa plots in their communities.
  • Disseminate information about the enormous benefits of Moringa and its uses.
  • Research and identify potential markets for Moringa products and link farmers to sell  their products.
  •  Convene summer camps to teach youths how to farm and the importance of eating healthy.
  • Teach youths to be entrepreneurs through farming and agriculture.
